Project: 40 Albert Grove, Nottingham, NG7 1PA
Discipline: Architectural Technology / Project Management
Programme: Coursework / Live Client
40 Albert Grove, Lenton, Nottingham, has been purchased by a private developer and is in a poor state of repair. The developer wishes to refurbish the buildings for use as student or private accommodation, and has requested the involvement of the Architectural Technology students at Nottingham Trent University to create a number of refurbishment ideas, and eventually develop them into a Planning Application ready for submission to the local authority.
Working in a team with myself as Team Leader, we began by surveying the property internally and externally. The surveying included thorough examination of conditions and measured plans drawn on site. Organising team meetings and working together, we made appropriate decisions in line with the requirements of the brief, statutory requirements and conditions on site. We produced a final industry accepted document consisting of design and planning stages, through to the issue of tender documents for the completion of the proposed works.
Tasks involved in the project;
- Record of Minutes of Meetings
- Measured & Condition Surveys
- Risk Assessments
- Desktop, Accessibility and Fire Safety Studies
- Organising an Energy Audit by a BREEAM Assessor
- Evaluation of Design Constraints
- Design Concepts
- and a Final Proposal Presentation to the Project Leaders
There were many valuable learning experiences involved in this project. I would like to thank all my Team Members and Project Leaders for giving me the opportunity to get involved in this project. The final document is available to view below, but does not include the record of meetings, risk assessment, manufacturer’s product details, CAD details and planning application.
